Hot Fig & Cumbrian Ham Salad

5 fresh figs
70g Cumbrian Ham
Fresh mint leaves
Black pepper to season 


  1. Cut the figs in half lengthways and place them face down into a dry, hot plan or griddle. After about a minute, splash some balsamic vinegar over the figs so that they begin to colour and caramelise. 
  2. Season with black pepper only as there will be a lovely subtle saltiness to the ham which should be placed over the figs whilst still warm. 
  3. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve.
